Join the Fourth of July Parade

The parade will take place on Saturday, July 4th, with line-up beginning at the Butler County Fairgrounds at 9:00 A.M. The parade will promptly leave the fairgrounds at 10:00 A.M.
This year’s theme is: “Celebrating Hamilton’s History – The Great Miami River”
All floats must incorporate the theme in their design, music, and decoration.
Prizes will be awarded to the float winners that best carry out the theme:
- Grand Prize – $1,000
- 1st Place – $750
- 2nd Place – $500
- 3rd Place – $300
- 4th Place & 5th Place – $100 each

Free Art at the Fitton Center
The 2015 Macy’s Arts Sampler Weekend presented by ArtsWave, will be held over one weekend from March 7-8, 2015, and will offer more than 100 events, activities and performances throughout Greater Cincinnati. All events are free and open to the public through the sponsorship of Macy’s.
“Macy’s Arts Sampler gives everyone a chance to discover the wide variety of arts across our region,” said Alicia Kintner, President and CEO of ArtsWave. “It’s a great way to spend a weekend with family and friends and try something new.”
As part of Macy’s Arts Sampler weekend, the Fitton Center will present an action-packed activity schedule from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Activities include clay tile making, monster making, temporary tattoos, Drawing with Young Rembrandts, Dancing with Miami Valley Ballet Theatre, a drum jam, and much more!
Macy’s Arts Sampler is a celebration of the arts in our community, and occur throughout the annual community campaign, when people all across our region come together to support the fun things to do in greater Cincinnati.
A full schedule of weekend activities is available on the ArtsWave website, www.theartswave.org, and through the free Macy’s Arts Sampler app, available for iOS and Android platforms. Printed schedules may be picked up at participating Sampler venues, Macy’s stores, and at public libraries in Hamilton and Campbell County.
The Fitton Center for Creative Arts is supported by individuals and organizations throughout the area, who recognize that their donations to ArtsWave help create a livelier community and a place where people from different backgrounds come together to share ideas and experiences.
Pyramid Hill Seeking Artists
A call for artists for the annual Pyramid Hill Arts Fair, September 26 and 27,
Annual Cheese Fest will feature more than 80 cheese companies
The finest cheeses from around the world sold at Jungle Jim’s International Market will be available for testing at the store’s “Big Cheese Fest” next month.
It is one of Jungle Jim’s more affordable events throughout the year. Patrons may purchase tickets in advance of the festival, which is slated for Feb. 7 and Feb. 8 this year. The cost is $14 for a two-day pass or $8 each day through Feb. 1. The price goes up as the festival gets closer.
More than 80 cheese companies will be featured in more than 40 booths. It is conducted inside the Oscar Event Center at Jungle Jim’s on Dixie Highway in Fairfield.

Celebrate Fiesta de Unidad with MUH
Miami Hamilton will host a Fiesta de Unidad, noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15 in the Harry T. Wilks Conference Center.
Admission is free.
In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrate the many contributions of Hispanic peoples and cultures in the US and examine the complexity of immigration reform in light of current discussions about refugee status. Discussion will include how the issue of immigration affects access to health care, education and employment.
Food and refreshments will be served that reflect Hispanic culture.

Miami’s regional campus in Middletown will host a Fiesta de Unidad on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Campus & Community Center.

year when there are plenty of outdoor activities celebrating Fall and the upcoming Halloween holiday.

Behind the Gates of Greenwood: A historical walking tour through Greenwood Cemetery, 1602 Greenwood Ave., Hamilton. Tours are 1.5-hours long from 3-6 p.m. A guide takes groups on a leisurely stroll through the cemetery and re-enactors tell stories in period costumes. Registration required, tickets are $5. Indoor drinks stube added to Hamilton’s Oktoberfest
Labor Day often signals the close of summer activities in Butler County, and with that comes the annual Oktoberfest at Liberty Home German Society.
The annual German celebration, now in its 49th year, draws large crowds with its lure of sauerkraut, potato cakes and crème puffs. It includes rides and games and is an atmosphere for families.
Other food at the festival includes mettwurst, brautwurst, cabbage rolls, Limburger cheese and much more. Adult beverages include German and domestic beers.
A slew of live entertainment is scheduled throughout the weekend. Find a full schedule here.
Liberty Trustee Corey Wagonfield, who serves as communications coordinator, says new this year is an indoor beer and wine stube with live entertainment.
The festival will also have “double the food lines for quicker service,” Wagonfield said.
Credit cards are now accepted at Oktoberfest.
Oktoberfest takes place from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29; 2 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30 and 1 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31. Admission is $3 per person, and children younger than 14 years old get in free.

Butler County Fair begins Sunday
The annual Butler County Fair kicks off Sunday, July 20 and runs through July 26.
The first grandstand event will be a Garden Tractor Pull at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, followed by an Antique Tractor Pull at 7 p.m. the same day, according to the Butler County Fair website. Demolition Derby events are slated for Monday and Friday.
