Butler Tech Names Paul Carpenter as Treasurer‏

The Butler Tech Board of Education has awarded a three-year contract to Paul Carpenter to serve as the district’s new Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer, effective Oct. 12, 2015. In this role, Carpenter will oversee the financial operations of Butler Tech, the accuracy and timeliness of all state and federal reporting, the development of the annual district budget and the district’s Five-Year Forecast.

Mr. Carpenter most recently served as the Treasurer of the Upper Valley Career and Technical Center in Miami County. He previously served as Treasurer of Riverside Local School District in Logan County. Before beginning his career as a school treasurer, he held positions as a Commercial Loan Administrator for Huntington National Bank and was an audit manager with the Ohio Auditor of State’s Office.

Mr. Carpenter received his bachelor’s degree in 2003 from the University of Dayton majoring in finance. He has received the Auditor of State Award with Distinction during his tenure both Riverside Local School District  and Upper Valley Career Center for clean audit reports from 2010-2014.

Mr. Carpenter lives in Miamisburg, Ohio, with his wife and two children. He is active in several professional organizations, the Ohio Association of School Business Officials and the Ohio Association of Career and Technical School Treasurers, where he serves on the audit, records and finance committees. He has been active on legislative initiatives to support and advocate for career technical school funding.

The Butler Tech Board of Education received assistance in the hiring process from K-12 Business Consulting. After developing a Treasurer Search Profile that was based on information provided by board of education members, community members, teachers, administrators, support staff, and the board reviewed the credentials of 13 qualified candidates. Interviews with nine (9) semi-final candidates were conducted by the board on August 25 and 26. Mr. Carpenter was the unanimous choice following the detailed interview process.
