In the news: Hitching Post reopens, Lauren Hill plays basketball

HEY! Hamilton! The Hitching Post in Darrtown has reopened, according the Journal-News.  Did you know it originally opened in 1817 as an inn on the route to Cincinnati?

Also in the news today, old mosaic mural clocks from Union Terminal have been found. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the clocks were once part of the terminal’s concourse, telling visitors the hour in various time zones.

Election Day: On Tuesday, the polls will be busy with voters deciding many big races. Nearby, one of the heated battles to watch is between Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes and Republican Mitch McConnell, for Kentucky senator. McConnell has had the seat for three decades. This weekend, Hillary Clinton was in the region on behalf of Grimes, who serves as Kentucky’s secretary of state.

In the sports world, today is all about Lauren Hill. The Mt. St. Joseph women’s basketball team plays Hiram College at Xavier’s Cintas Center, and Hill will be the star. She is battling brain cancer and today is her first game with Mt. St. Joe’s. People, including local celebrity athletes, have been taking the #layup4lauren challenge. Read her story in the Enquirer. The game sold out in 30 minutes.
